Rebecca Molloy, our salon manager in Rose Bay is the employee of the month of November

At BodiBeauticious we really value people, our customers as well as our amazing employees. This is why we are getting to know a different therapist every month. In November we want to know more about Rebecca Molloy, our amazing salon manager in Rose Bay. We know how great she is at keeping it all together, but who is the person behind it?

Let’s find out together!

Where are you from originally? When did you move to Australia?

I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Four years ago I decided to move to Sydney and I have loved it ever since. But sometimes I miss my family, which is back in Dublin. That is definitely the hardest part of living in Australia. Thank God there are WhatsApp and FaceTime, so we can easily communicate!

How long have you been working in the beauty industry and how long at BodiBeauticious?

I have been working in the beauty industry for the last 7 years. I joined Bodi Beauticious 3 years ago

What was the best moment of your career?

I think the best moment of my career was becoming manager of Bodi Beauticious. It’s my first manger roll, so it was a really big achievement for me. I love being a manager and working with such a great team makes it even better

How is it to manage a salon? Any crazy anecdotes?

Managing a salon is a lot of work and can be stressful at times. But luckily I always have Janine just a phone call away and I think we have a great team here at BodiBeauticious. This makes my job a little bit easier.

Unfortunately sometimes you can come across difficult clients. No matter how much time you spend with someone or how thoroughly you do something, it still won’t be good enough for that person. You just smile, hold your anger in and hope that they leave happy 🙂

Have you ever had any embarrassing experiences thorough your career?

It was probably in one of my first jobs in beauty. I was working in a day Spa, where we were doing a lot of massages. Nobody warned me that people’s muscles  relax so much sometimes that they can accidentally let gas out! It was quite embarrassing because I didn’t know what to think. But now I know it’s normal.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of my job is definitely all the people you meet. I end up seeing someone more than my own friends, so I build good relationships with them. I also love seeing people leave the salon happy, it’s a rewarding feeling to know that you made the smile on that person’s face.

What would you do if you weren’t a beauty therapist and salon manager?

Strangely enough I always wanted to be a midwife. I don’t think I would have been able to study for that long though!!

What’s the secret of your success?

I think I am a very hard worker and I believe that hard work pays off. I also think having a positive look on things helps to have positive outcomes. And obviously I have Janine to thank for my success in Bodi Beauticious. Without all her help, training and hard work I wouldn’t be where I am now. She’s an amazing boss and leader and I look up to her a lot 🙂

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I love to spend time with my boyfriend and friends. All my family live in Dublin so my friends become my Australian family. I love seeing all the different beaches and parks around Sydney and I still have a lot more to see!

October is the rejuvenation month: anti-ageing tips from our cosmetic nurse Lindy Patel

At BodiBeauticious we really value people, our customers as well as our amazing employees. This is why we are getting to know a different practitioner every month. October is the rejuvenation month, so we ask some anti-ageing tips to our amazing cosmetic nurse Lindy Patel.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Sydney, where I did my Registered Nurse Training at Hornsby Hospital. I have moved a lot in my life for both education and work.
I did my Midwifery Training in Stirling, Scotland and then went to Chepstow, Wales (UK) where I worked at the regional Burns & Plastics unit for 3 years.

How long have you been working in the beauty industry and how long at BodiBeauticious?

I have been working at BodiBeauticious for the past 6 months but I’ve been in the industry since 1977, when I was working in the Burns & Plastics Unit in South Wales (UK) as a Staff Nurse.
I also lived in the USA for 18 months and worked for a dermatologist as a registered nurse. I dealt with patients with various skin complaints.
I then moved back to Australia, Adelaide and Canberra for 14 and 20 years respectively. I was working as a registered nurse in plastic surgery practises. In Canberra, I also run a very busy skin care & cosmetic injection practise.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part is making a difference to people’s self-esteem and self-confidence plus developing new friends along the way.

You specialize in rejuvenation, what are your anti-ageing tips for a flawless skin?

First of all, good skin care products, i.e. physician developed e.g. Rodan & Fields.
Then I would say a healthy diet that avoids processed food & sugar, limited sun exposure and no smoking.
Also, I have found that skin needling e.g. Dermapen has a fantastic effect on strengthening building collagen in the dermis of the skin, which provides a more youthful appearance.

You just mentioned Rodan & Fields and we know you have partnered with them; what is so special about their products?

These products are Physician developed and specifically target problem skin. They are also very effective, affordable and simple to use.

Injections and fillers are a big part of your job, are there any skin types that are better indicated?

All skin types are suitable for injection and fillers.

At what age should a woman start with anti-ageing products?

It is best to start in their 20’s as they start showing signs of sun damage and aging. Prevention is better than cure!

How did anti-aging techniques evolve over the years?

We used to introduce collagen injection as fillers. They only lasted for about 3 months, had to be allergy tested a month prior to injection and had limited use.  We also applied glycolic and phenol peels, which were painful, aggressive and had a downtime following treatment.

What are the new trends in fillers & injections?

Now we have non-permanent fillers with minimal side effects and different types and strengths to suit different areas of the face.
Anti-wrinkle injections using Botulinum A are also a trend. Their use is more sophisticated use as well as their placement for facial rejuvenation.

And now one last question about you. What’s the secret of your success and what inspires you?

My success is equated to the knowledge and experience I have developed over the years from working side by side with many plastic surgeons and in the burns and plastic unit. Skin nutrition and skin care was paramount to a successful outcome with minimal scaring.
I also listen to clients in order to provide the right solution to suit their budget and skin, without trying to up sell.

Kyah Smith, our September superstar

[vc_row 0=””][vc_column][vc_column_text 0=””]Since our September newsletter is all about weddings and special events, we decided to highlight our bridal makeup superstar Kyah Smith from the Byron Bay salon. Keep reading to find out what she likes, how she is and know the amazing person behind the treatments… And check out the gallery at the end of the interview to see her in action!

Where are you from?
I grew up in Newcastle and moved to Byron Bay in 2010. I absolutely love it here, especially for the beautiful beaches and national parks that surround us!

What do you like doing in your free time?
In my free time I am usually enjoying time with my family & friends. We would go to the beach or on little adventures.

How long have you been working in the beauty industry and how long at BodiBeauticious?
I have been working in the Beauty Industry for roughly 10 years now. And at Bodi Beauticious for just over a year, when it opened in Byron.

What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is making any client feel amazing. I love it when a client leaves happy. It’s a wonderful feeling to know you have just made someone’s day. Sometimes you may have a client who is just having a bad day and you just have to make them feel special. Spread the love and positivity and you can make anyone’s day feel brighter.

This month we’re focusing on brides and, since you’re the start of the bridal makeup, we wanna know about your experiences. What happened with the nicest bride you treated and what with the most annoying one?
The nicest so far would have to be Emily.I’ve recently done her make up for her wedding in the Byron Bay Hinterland. She is such a beautiful woman.

Can’t say I have  ever had a bad experience as of yet and let’s hope I don’t, haha! It’s actually unlikely for a makeup artist.

Are you married yourself?
No, I am not married yet 😉 But I do have a great partner and two beautiful crazy children.

What’s the secret of your success and what inspires you?
My secret is… Being able to empower women is what really inspires me. For every woman to stand up and keep going through all the ups & downs in life. We all need to be role models for our children and younger generations. That is why being in this industry is perfect to help others feel good about themselves.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”6116,6115,6114,6117,6113″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row”][vc_column][vc_column_text]BodiBeauticious’ biggest asset are its people, the clients as well as the employee. Therefore, we decided to highlight a different beauty therapist with a brief and funny interview in our newsletter every month. We want you to meet our team to see the real people behind every treatment. So enjoy!

Where are you from?
M: I’m originally from Taiwan and I moved to Australia in early 2000. I really like it here, especially Rose Bay because people are so lovely

How long have you been working at BodiBeauticious?
M: I’ve been a beauty therapist at BodiBeauticious for over 2 years now but I started working in the industry in my early 20s. And I’m going to be 41 in October this year… 😉

What is your favourite part of the job?
M: My favorite part of my job is when clients walk out with a big smile on their face, it makes me happy and proud.

What are the most unusual and annoying requests you ever got?
M: I don’t recall any unusual request from clients so far but I can say that the most annoying moment was when a client asked me to wax her eyebrows. I did it and she then said she didn’t remember she ever asked to wax her eyebrows. It was really frustrating!

What’s the weirdest and funniest request you ever had from a man?
M: Years ago I was working at a day spa and a guy came for a massage. When I walked into the room to perform the treatment, he was still fully dressed. So I told him he needed to take off his cloths and he replied “ladies first”!

What is your secret of success?
M: “Do it with your heart” and “go the extra mile” are 2 quotes that definitely inspire my life in general as well as my job.

Do you have a family?
M: I’m a single mum of a lovely girl who’s 14 now.

What do you like doing in your free time?
M: I love digging into nature, bushwalking, camping,  seeing the sunrise and the sunset, going to the beach. I’m also a gospel singer and I’m  writing a book …

Really? What is it about?
M: It’s gonna be a big surprise for everyone; but all I can say for now is that it’s about encouragement

So thank you Michelle, we’re really looking forward to reading your book now!

Who’s your favorite member of BodiBeauticious team? Is she gonna be the next employee of the month? We’ll find out in September’s newsletter![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
