Skin Treatments

DERMAPEN:

Dermapen Skin Needling Therapy (or collagen induction therapy) is one of the most advanced skin rejuvenation therapy available today.

As we age the natural production of the skins supporting cells, collagen and elastin naturally diminish which leads to wrinkles, sagging and hollows in the skin. Stimulating the skin to produce more collagen and elastin is called collagen induction.

What conditions does micro-needling treat?

  • Mild to moderate acne scarring
  • Surgical scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Pore size and skin texture
  • Keloid scarring

Is the treatment painful?

Skin needling with the Dermapen is extremely comfortable when used with topical anaesthetic cream. The treatment itself takes approximately 30 minutes for a full face.

How does it work?

The device glides gently along the skin, penetrating the layers of the skin closest to the surface, of a depth of up to 2mm to create numerous tiny needle wounds. The therapy encourages the skin to respond through creation of new collagen and elastin fibres. As the skin responds, it plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, wrinkles and fine lines.

What can I expect from the procedure?

The skin is cleaned and numbing cream may be applied to lessen discomfort. For better results we use a collagen-stimulating product like Hyaluronic Acid.   A small handheld pen like device with a sterile, disposable tip with 12 tiny needles is then used to pierce the skin. Our needling pen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depth allow needles to pierce the skin’s layer at 90 degrees and increase the absorption of products. After the treatment, soothing after care serum is used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

How will I look after treatment?

In my experience, most people will have a mild redness and possibly some swelling. The same way you may feel with a mild sunburn. Effects may last for 24-48 hours and there may be pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Within several days to several weeks you will notice a smoother, brighter, and more radiant appearance, however, the full effects of the treatment do not appear until several months later.

What is the down time like?

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 48 hours. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with zinc-based sunblock. The use of mineral makeup may be used after procedure.

What improvements on the skin will I be able to notice?

  • Reduction in pore size
  • Improvement in the quality and texture of the skin
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves the look of disfiguring scars from surgery, accidents or acne.

How much does the treatment cost?

Single Treatment               $320

3x treatments                     $860 (save $100)

4x treatments                     $1100 (save $180)

6X treatments                     $1500 (save $420)

How many treatments do I need?

Everyone is different and after consultation, you should have some form of indication how many you should have. Skin conditions are different as well as the age of each patient the amount of treatments may vary but here is a guideline:

Rejuvenation:         4-6 treatments – 4 weeks apart

Acne Scarring:       6 treatments – 6 weeks apart

Stretch Marks:        10 treatments – 4-6 weeks apart

SKIN REJUVENATION:

What is IPL Skin Rejuvenation?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light technology. It is an FDA and TGA-approved and patented form of treatment which has been shown to be both safe and effective. You can reduce or, in some instances remove unwanted blemishes like pigmentation, broken capillaries, sun damaged skin, age spots and rosacea (redness). IPL is also known as photo-rejuvenation. Because it is a relatively simple and straightforward procedure, with few concerns in terms of either side effects, recovery time, or the level of invasiveness with the treatment itself, IPL is continuing to become a more widely utilised choice.

Benefits of IPL Skin Rejuvenation

IPL skin rejuvenation offers patients a wide range of benefits, including:

  • IPL is a quick, effective and no downtime for recovery. You see great results without undergoing intensive surgery.
  • IPL works amazingly for removing red splotches, brown spots, and scarring, as well as reducing pore size, eliminating and reducing wrinkles, and improving overall skin texture, smoothness and quality. IPL has been used to treat rosacea, hyperpigmentation, melasma, age and sunspots, broken capillaries, spider veins, stretch marks, and other conditions as well.
  • IPL achieves a more youthful appearance.
  • IPL offers a legitimate and long-lasting solution, as opposed to some procedures which offer only short-term results.

Procedure Details

During an IPL procedure, intense light from a range of wavelengths is focused on the specific parts of your skin that you are treating. The IPL device itself is gently pressed onto the skin, with a smooth, transparent surface emitting the light on the targeted areas.

This light helps to spur on the production of collagen, which will help to fill in lines and wrinkles or shallow scarring, while also reducing redness, discolouration, and spots.

Meanwhile, the targeted tissue that has been damaged is naturally removed by the body. Depending on what is being treated, the exact wavelength range can be adjusted to optimise results.

You will wear an eye mask to protect your eyes and vision during the procedure, and topical gels may be applied on your skin to prevent overheating.

The entire procedure is quick, taking about half an hour to complete, although the exact length will depend on what the practitioner is treating.

What does the procedure cost?

Anywhere from $40 per spot – Full Face Rejuvenation $275

SHR IPL Hair Removal

Did you think WINTER was the only time to begin your hair removal treatment?

If you considering IPL or laser YES. HOWEVER, we have the SHR IPL (super hair removal) which is the latest and newest form of hair removal, you will be safe with this latest method all year long, day after day! So, you need not wait until the middle of winter to begin your treatments, you can begin today!

WHY IS IT SO SAFE YOU ASK?

SHR uses lower energy and more pulses when compared to IPL. SHR utilizes an “In Motion” technique and low-heat settings as explained, the level of safety is unlike any other laser hair removal procedure. 50% of the energy targets hair melanin, while the other 50% targets the stem cells responsible for hair production, thus resulting in reduction of hair growth by 95%!

In a nutshell: Rather exposing the hair follicle to a single high energy pulse which can cause trauma to the skin, SHR gradually heats the skin until the required heat energy is delivered into the hair follicle. This makes SHR the safest hair reduction option for dark skinned patients and most effective option for fair haired patients.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO START SEEING RESULTS?

Depending on your skin and hair type our therapists normally recommend that it takes 6-9 SHR treatments before you will see a permanent reduction in the level of hair re-growth. Every individual is different and some need as little as 3 and others up to about 12 sessions before the optimal results are seen. 2- 6 weeks between treatments are recommended depending on the area being treated.

Benefits of SHR hair removal, is that it is a safe, effective method of laser hair removal that is quick and pain free compared to many technologies around the world. A small body part SHR takes 5 to 15 minutes and a larger area can be completed in 20 to 30 minutes.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK?

Active growing hair that has been treated with SHR should not grow back, as once a hair follicle is damaged, it cannot grow hair. Hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase will need to be treated until damaged. Although hormones and change of lifestyle can have an impact on further hair growth and will need initial maintenance or further treatments.

DO I NEED TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK?

SHR have no “down time” and requires no recovery at all.  You might notice the follicles could be slightly raised and pinkish in colour which will dissipate within a couple of hours. You can have your treatment at lunch time and go back to normal activities immediately.

WHY DO I NEED SO MANY TREATMENTS?

We are interested in the Anagen Stage. Therefore 25% of hair is removed with each treatment, therefore a few treatments are required until we have a hair free area.

The anagen, or growing phase, during which your hair grows. The catagen, or regression phase, during which your hair follicles shrink and detach from your skin. The telogen, or resting phase, during which new hair begins to grow under the older, detached hairs.

START NOW AND SAVE!

With any ½ leg, Full leg or Brazilian booked in until end of August, you will receive your underarm SHR IPL Hair Removal completely FREE!!

New Year’s RESOLUTIONS: anti-ageing solutions for your skin when you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond

We’re almost in 2018 and this is the time to consider our New Year’s resolutions to start healthier habits, leave some parts of the past behind and become the best version of ourselves. When you write your list, do you usually think about your skin? Our skin is our most extended organ and it is always exposed to different agents. We have to treat it and protect it properly, as we only have one – once destroyed it is a big task to recover!

It is never too early to start with anti-ageing solutions, every age has its own specifics and requires various treatments. We wrote a little guide on what to do in in order to have a flawless skin in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond.

Anti-ageing solutions in your 20s: time for prevention

Even if you feel like you’re too young, when you’re in your 20s it’s time for you to start thinking of the changes that happen in your skin in order to prevent damages.

What happens with your skin?

  • Your skin takes around 14-16 days to regenerate itself.
  • You might start seeing fine lines around your eyes or forehead. This is due to how much you use your expression muscles.
  • You might still experience acne breakouts and blemishes, especially around yourperiod. The testosterone production is higher in those days, making your skin oilier.

What you can do at home

Wash your skin twice daily, always include toner and moisturizer in your routine. Preventing wrinkles and pigmentation requires applying a SPF 30 or higher every morning. With acne breakouts, use zinc oxide formulas to make sure your pores are not clogged.

Bodibeauticious recommendation:

Treatment in the salon:

We recommend a Deep Cleanse Facial at least every few months to cleanse your skin.

skin peelWhat to do in your 30s: enhance your collagen production

When you’re in your thirties, it’s time for you to focus on stimulation of your collagen and elastin to keep your skin firm and plump. Since your oestrogen levels start sinking, your collagen production decreases. This is when your skin begins to break down collagen faster than making it.

What happens with your skin?

  • The skin regeneration process takes around 28-32 days.
  • Some wrinkles might show up, especially expression lines on your forehead and around the eyes.
  • You’ll notice how the moisture level of your skin is decreasing and you might even experience dryness around your mouth.

What you can do at home

Get a proper anti-ageing regimen, especially for night time. Try to use products containing retinol. It is a derivative from Vitamin A and it increases collagen production making the skin thicker and smoother. Don’t’ forget good eating habits such as consuming a lot of antioxidants and to exercise. A flawless young skin is a reflection of a healthy body.

Bodibeauticious recommendation:

Treatment in the salon:

Once the salon analyses your skin, we will determine exactly what procedures to take. There are various options from Micro-dermabrasion, Skin Needling or IPL to begin resurfacing damaged skin from your youth. One can start using wrinkle injections, especially on the lines that are still visible when your face is not moving and dermal fillers around the mouth area.

Skincare in your 40s: it’s all about retinoids

This is the decade when gravity starts playing a role too, together with your hormone production. Time to seriously focus on anti-ageing and make the difference!

What happens with your skin?

  • Oestrogen production plummets, causing a loss in firmness, collagen and moisture, making your skin thinner.
  • Free radicals start to visibly damage your complexion, especially if you don’t consume enough anti-oxidants and if you haven’t before.
  • You’ll notice that your wrinkles, capillaries, age spots and blood vessels are more visible and appear at a much quicker rate.

What you can do at home

Your anti-ageing regimen should include: cleanser, moisturizer, serum, eye-cream and daily SPF on your face and neck. Choose products that contain retinol, you’ll never get enough of it! It will help to make your skin firmer, reduce your wrinkles and strengthen your blood vessels.

Exfoliate at least once a week with a gentle exfoliater and then follow with a hydration mask. Your lifestyle has a great impact on your appearance, so eat healthy and reduce sugar consumption, stay hydrated, sleep enough and exercise.

Bodibeauticious recommendation:

Treatment in the salon:
Wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are good, but you can also consider dermabrasion, skin peels and dermal-needling to rejuvenate and boost your collagen induction, creating a more youthful appearance.

Cosmetic proceduresRoaring 50s: time for menopause

Menopause usually happens at the beginning of this decade. Oestrogen sinks dramatically, making place for testosterone as your prevalent hormone.

What happens with your skin?

  • Your facial tissues are losing volume. This is especially visible in between the middle of your cheek to your nose. This is because you’ll have lost one third of your collagen in the first 5 years of menopause.
  • The signs of ageing will appear also on your neck, where you might experience turkey neck.
  • Overall, you’ll notice a loss of firmness in your skin, deeper lines, stretched, open pores and more age spots.

What you can do at home

The way you treat your skin can make the difference. It’s important to have solid products and focus on moisturizing because of the loss of the natural hyaluronic acid production from oestrogen, which will make your skin drier.
Wash daily although try to avoid water that is too hot, also when you shower. It will prevent you from further endangering the moisture levels of your skin.

Use products with hyaluronic acid and, of course, retinol. Add a vitamin C serum and an SPF every morning to make sure you have done everything to stimulate collagen production.

Bodibeauticious recommendation:

Treatments in the salon

Injections, fillers and wrinkle injections to firm your lines and cover dark circles. They can make you look 15 years younger in literally one afternoon! Fillers are also great to increase collagen production. You can also consider IPL and Needling to get rid of those annoying brown ageing spots.

As you can see, every age has the right anti-ageing solution. At BodiBeauticious we use the highest quality standard of treatments as well as in our products. Come in for a free consultation to find what best suits you or check our services in Rose Bay and Byron Bay.

“YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO BECOME YOUNG AGAIN” – MAE WEST

Rebecca Molloy, our salon manager in Rose Bay is the employee of the month of November

At BodiBeauticious we really value people, our customers as well as our amazing employees. This is why we are getting to know a different therapist every month. In November we want to know more about Rebecca Molloy, our amazing salon manager in Rose Bay. We know how great she is at keeping it all together, but who is the person behind it?

Let’s find out together!

Where are you from originally? When did you move to Australia?

I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Four years ago I decided to move to Sydney and I have loved it ever since. But sometimes I miss my family, which is back in Dublin. That is definitely the hardest part of living in Australia. Thank God there are WhatsApp and FaceTime, so we can easily communicate!

How long have you been working in the beauty industry and how long at BodiBeauticious?

I have been working in the beauty industry for the last 7 years. I joined Bodi Beauticious 3 years ago

What was the best moment of your career?

I think the best moment of my career was becoming manager of Bodi Beauticious. It’s my first manger roll, so it was a really big achievement for me. I love being a manager and working with such a great team makes it even better

How is it to manage a salon? Any crazy anecdotes?

Managing a salon is a lot of work and can be stressful at times. But luckily I always have Janine just a phone call away and I think we have a great team here at BodiBeauticious. This makes my job a little bit easier.

Unfortunately sometimes you can come across difficult clients. No matter how much time you spend with someone or how thoroughly you do something, it still won’t be good enough for that person. You just smile, hold your anger in and hope that they leave happy 🙂

Have you ever had any embarrassing experiences thorough your career?

It was probably in one of my first jobs in beauty. I was working in a day Spa, where we were doing a lot of massages. Nobody warned me that people’s muscles  relax so much sometimes that they can accidentally let gas out! It was quite embarrassing because I didn’t know what to think. But now I know it’s normal.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of my job is definitely all the people you meet. I end up seeing someone more than my own friends, so I build good relationships with them. I also love seeing people leave the salon happy, it’s a rewarding feeling to know that you made the smile on that person’s face.

What would you do if you weren’t a beauty therapist and salon manager?

Strangely enough I always wanted to be a midwife. I don’t think I would have been able to study for that long though!!

What’s the secret of your success?

I think I am a very hard worker and I believe that hard work pays off. I also think having a positive look on things helps to have positive outcomes. And obviously I have Janine to thank for my success in Bodi Beauticious. Without all her help, training and hard work I wouldn’t be where I am now. She’s an amazing boss and leader and I look up to her a lot 🙂

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I love to spend time with my boyfriend and friends. All my family live in Dublin so my friends become my Australian family. I love seeing all the different beaches and parks around Sydney and I still have a lot more to see!

8 spray tan tips for a bronzed and glowing skin

Beach season is almost there, which means it’s time to book your spray tan appointment. This treatment is great but can also go wrong. To make sure you have the best results, follow our 8 spray tan tips divided into pre, during and post treatment. Enjoy!

Spray tan prep

Nothing comes without hard work, the price you have to pay for better and longer lasting results, is your spray tan prep:

  1. shower the night before your session

Even though you will be (almost) naked in front of the practitioner, don’t shower right before the treatment. Your pores would be more open, so the tanning solution would penetrate them creating dark spots. You can shower up to 4 hours prior the session, but we recommend you to do it the night before

  1. exfoliate the day before your session

Don’t forget to exfoliate when you take the last shower before treatment. It will make your skin smoother while eliminating the dead skin cells which cause patches and streaks. For best results use a mild, oil-free and non-abrasive product, to avoid irritating your skin.

  1. shave the day before your session

Always shave before the session, if you do it right after, you will remove the colour.

  1. No moisturizer, no deodorant

Moisturizing your skin is very important after the tan because it will make it last longer. However, it can interfere with it if you use a lotion before the session. It can create a barrier making it very hard for the tan lotion to penetrate or bring the infamous orange colour. Same for deodorant: don’t use it on the day of the appointment as it can interact making your armpits green.

  1. Wear lose-fitting dark cloths

The tanning product might stain your cloths, so it’s best if you wear lose-fitting and dark cloths. In this way you will avoid too much contact with the tanning product. We also recommend to wear dark flip flops.

At the appointment

Now that you’ve done your preparation, it’s time for you to go to the appointment. Before you enter the spray tan room, always remember to:

  1. remove makeup and jewellery

Makeup can interfere with the bronzing fair and make your skin look uneven. So, before you start the session, remove your foundation. We provide wipes that will help you.

Also, take off your jewellery, as the it might cover parts of your skin, creating funny marks. The spray can also stain and ruin it.

It goes without saying that you will also remove your cloths

Spray tan care after the session

Once the session is over, its’ time to work on spray tan care, to enhance the results

  1. Shower 8 hours after the treatment

Your tan develops during the 8 hours after the application. So, it’s very important to avoid anything that might partially remove it, making it uneven. This includes water and sweat. Don’t shower nor do anything activity that would make you sweat.

Your colour will look best after your first shower. But don’t shave, exfoliate nor scrub as it would make the effect fade away. The water will look a little muddy. No need to freak out; it’s the cosmetic bronzing solution, not your tan. Wait till the water becomes clean again and when you’re done don’t rub your towel.

  1. Moisturize twice a day

For best and flawless results, moisturize every day at least twice a day. But refrain from using oily products, as they can partially remove the tan and make it look uneven.

The best products are tan extending lotions, ask your practitioner for recommendation.

At BodiBeauticious our practitioners are all well skilled and use only top quality tan spray. With them and our spray tan tips, you will look like the bronzed goddess you dream of.

What men want: interesting facts about male grooming

Did you know that the male grooming is the fastest growing segment in the personal care market? 2013 was the first year when men spent more on male specific skincare products than on shaving. And it only increased since. Research say the global market for male toiletries is going to reach 23.9 billion US$ by 2022.

It is now a fact that men want to look their best: 1/3 spend more than thirty minutes a day on beauty practices. They commonly use cleansers and moisturizing lotions for face and body as well as lip balms. Especially the ones in corporate positions consider their appearance to play a role when it comes to their success and longevity in the business. They are also more conscious about protecting their skin from pollution and sun.

So, what do we need to know about the male beauty industry?

Should there be specific products and treatments for male grooming?

Men’s skin is actually quite different from women’s, hence the need for specific products and treatments. It is not only a matter of marketing and packaging:

  • Male skin is 25% thicker but it gradually thins with age, unlike female’s which remains constant until the age of 50.
  • The ageing process starts later but is faster
  • Men have higher testosterone levels, which result in increased collagen production and density. The collagen fibres are also more tight and dense, giving a plumper skin appearance.
  • The outer skin layer in men is thicker, giving a better protection and hydration.
  • Men loose more subcutaneous fat with age. Therefore, their wrinkles are deeper.
  • Male pores are larger and produce more sebum, but in a constant way through the years.
  • The large pore size also causes more shaving-related issues such as ingrown hair.
  • There is more lactic acid in men sweat than women’s, this is why their mantle is more acid.

What are the grooming habits for men?

When it comes to their grooming habits, men seem to like simple and low maintenance regimes. Compared to women, they are more practical in their buying choices and less driven by marketing.

Even if the time men spend on skincare is increasing, they don’t really want to stay too long in the bathroom. As they love simplicity, some of them dream of having just one product doing 4 different jobs.

The basic male beauty routine is cleansing, exfoliating with scrubs and moisturising. However, men are getting more conscious about sun damages and, therefore, buying more protective daily creams.

Guys in their twenties are not concerned about ageing yet. They look for solutions for sensitive skin, shaving irritations, blemishes, blocked pores, environmental stress and sun damages. On the other hand, men in their thirties and beyond think about the signs of their ageing skin. Therefore, they seek for ingredients targeting fine lines, skin regeneration, dryness and protection against pollution. Products specific for some areas such as neck or eyes are not very popular yet, but the trend might change in the future.

Simple but effective is what appeals to them the most. So, something that is easy to apply and the skin can easily absorb. Most of the times, they look for fragrance-free products.

What is a man doing in a Beauty Salon?  The most popular male grooming treatments

Not only skincare at home, the male grooming treatments are increasing in number and popularity. So, what do men do in their salon visits and what do they like? In general, men prefer non-invasive and fast procedures, with the least side effects. Even though there are more businesses specifically targeting only men, the traditional salons are becoming more and more mixed and genderless.

Facial: a man’s facial consists of cleaning out the blackheads and soothing often irritated skin, usually caused by shaving.  A combination of cleansing, exfoliation, steam, masks, and moisturizers will leave their skin smoother than ever.  The smoother their skin, the better and less painful their shave.  A relaxing massage is also given when the mask is on.

Waxing: once a prerogative of body builders and sports people, waxing is becoming more and more common. From back to legs to Brazilian and Hollywood, men want a smoother skin. A consultation is highly recommended for the ones that are new to the procedure. It aims to make the client feel more comfortable and it will also provide useful information for after care advice.

ENE, is what men should be having: wives, partners and girlfriends always insist on them getting Ears, Nose and Eye waxing, as most men grow hair in all the wrong places. The guys might not always be up for it. However, if they come in for a facial, we as therapists recommend it and make sure we administer that procedure as painless as possible.

What happens in that room?

Men, as big and bold as they seem, often become meek and mild in the salon. They are out of their comfort zone as another woman is taking control, which can be scary for some of them. They secretly like to relax and often, within the right environment, they just fall into a deep sleep. However, some are asking a lot of questions, a lot … what you putting on my face?  How often do I need this?  What do you think I should be using?  What can I do with my wrinkles?  How many times did you say I need to wash my face?  But once we actually give them the protocols and the advice on what they should be doing and using, they become among our best clients J

I have a funny story about this. I was working with a client’s husband. We were fighting against constant breakouts on his skin, so I told him to change his pillowcase every night, as bacteria can often get trapped in it… Oh my goodness he was such a good listener! He still does it after 2 years.  His wife is not impressed with her white linen and changing his black pillowcase every day, which is a complete eye sore. But hey we got rid of the acne. If you’re reading this, you know what am I talking about 😉

Hope you enjoyed our little travel into the male grooming world. What treatment would you like your partner to do? Do you have any funny anecdote about his beauty habits? Would love to hear from you!

Eat well and stay young: the anti-ageing foods

Eating the right food is the first step when it comes to fighting against free radicals and the signs of an ageing skin: from fish to berries to tomatoes, from spinaches to dry fruits and eggs, all the foods that will keep you look young.

Ageing is what we do to not die, but what really matters is how we do it. It is important to take good care of ourselves in order to be healthy at every age. Our skin is a mirror of our health: complexion and brightness reflect how we are on the inside. Think about it, you can’t see the organs from the outside, you see the skin.

Food is one of the main factors that can actually affect how our skin looks. It is therefore important to know the anti-ageing foods and consume them regularly, if we want to slow down the ageing process.

Anti-ageing foods: dos and don’ts

Dos:

Proteins help keeping your skin tonic. They are also a good iron source, which is vital for nails and hair. However, too many proteins can damage and dry out the skin.

Fish contains Omega 3, 6 and 9. Those oils are very good for your skin. Researches proved that people suffering from psoriasis and dermatitis were lacking them.

Season fresh fruits and vegetables are natural antioxidants which contain vitamins and minerals.

Pulses can reduce sugar absorption and are a source of vegetal protein.

Don’t forget spices such as paprika, ginger, turmeric, horseradish and chili! They reduce salt consumption, giving flavours in a healthier way. They are also natural antioxidants.

Don’ts

Abuse of simple carbs such as white flours and sugar, which can be found in bread and pasta. They cause glycation, one of the skin ageing processes. A diet that contains many of such simple carbs may damage your epidermis, which will look more tired and withered.

Diets that focus on one component, for instance protein only. They are unhealthy and you should vary in a balanced way.

The top 10 components of anti-ageing foods and where to find them

  1.     Vitamin A reduces the appearance of wrinkles and skin dryness. It is in yellow and red fruits and vegetables, berries, cheese and butter. You don’t have to ban butter, but it’s better if you consume it moderately and raw.
  2.     Vitamin E is very effective in disabling the production of free radicals. You can find it in dried fruits, eggs and fish. It is also used in the beauty industry
  3.     Vitamin C, which is mostly in citrus fruits, can reduce the oxidative effects of pollution, stress and unhealthy diet
  4.     Lycopene, is the only component that enhances its effects when cooked. You can find in tomatoes, carrots, melons and yellow and red fruits
  5.     Resveratrol helps releasing stress and its signs. It is a component of red wine, red grapes and peanuts.
  6.     Quercetin helps against inflammation and it is in apples and red onions.
  7.     Lutein, whose sources are spinaches and other vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and leek, is beneficial to eyes and skin
  8.     Vitamin K is also a natural antihemorrhagic element. It can be found in kale, soya, chickpeas and green tea.
  9.     Vitamin D, is naturally produced by our skin and activated by the sun. You can also find it in fish and dairy products.
  10.  Vitamin B3, which is contained in bran, salmon and turkey can help renew our skin.

It is also important to remind that diversifying your food, eating quality products and avoiding processed ingredients helps keeping young.

The ORAC values

The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is the measure of the ability of a food or a substance to quench free radicals.

We need at least 2000 ORAC per day to feel those antioxidant benefits.

Many foods have been tested in laboratories to find their ORAC values. Among the ones with the highest ORAC score are goji berries, dark chocolate, pecans beetroots, avocados, artichokes, eggplants and tomatoes.

Our skin care products at Bodi Beauticious aim to make sure that certain ingredients that we achieve from our daily food intake is incorporated within our daily skin regime.

Ask about our ABC of Skincare – we make sure you are covered 🙂
